Greenline streamlines workflow with Cadpro and Autodesk Revit

Challenge
For over a quarter of a century, Greenline has been transforming outdoor spaces across Australia. Founded as a family-owned business building shade sails and shade structures, it has grown into Australia’s trusted outdoor space developer.
As Greenline’s success has grown, so have its projects—ranging from school outdoor areas to community precincts and sports complexes. But greater scale comes greater complexity, and its existing CAD software was reaching its limits.
‘It worked well for detailed modelling,’ says Greenline Pre-Construction Associate Gavan Lindqvist, ‘but it struggled with larger projects. We had to create all the templates ourselves, and we’d hit the limits of what was possible. The software’s constraints also created inefficiencies, making it time-consuming to coordinate with consultants and mange multi-scope projects. The bigger the project, the more time-intensive it became.’

Project goals
To sustain growth and tackle these challenges, Greenline needed a new software platform—one that could handle project complexity while streamlining and simplifying internal processes for greater efficiency.
However, Greenline’s expertise lay in transforming outdoor spaces, not software. The key was finding a partner who could not only recommend the right solution but also ensure Greenline maximised its benefits.
Lindqvist says Cadpro was the perfect fit–not just for the solution it provided, but for its collaborative approach. Rather than offering an off-the-shelf product, Cadpro worked alongside Greenline to develop a tailored solution based on its unique challenges and future goals.
"When we began the process, we weren’t entirely sure what was possible. Cadpro helped us identify our challenges and what we needed to overcome them. They worked with us as a true business partner, guiding us through a significant transformation in our entire design process—one that has had a lasting impact across our business."

Solution
The process began with Cadpro sitting down with Greenline staff to conduct a Business Process Assessment, reviewing Greenline’s workflows, project design methods and template usage. Based on these insights, Cadpro recommended the most suitable software platform and identified ways to refine Greenline’s business processes.
The solution was built using Revit, part of Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection. Revit delivers significant time savings and improved accuracy. Its built-in automation simplifies design and production, while its digital exchange capabilities enable collaboration with architects and other consultants who can import architectural models back into Revit.
A key benefit of the solution, says Lindqvist, was the creation of a bespoke Revit template.
‘Cadpro analysed our past projects to identify common objects, then developed custom-families loaded into our new template.’Lindqvist explains. ‘They tailored it to the way we worked and the types of projects we worked on. They also provided bespoke training, ensuring we could fully leverage the new system. The combination of industry-leading software with custom-designed content has made a huge difference.’
Business outcomes
The new platform and templates have significantly sped up Greenline’s project timelines. Beyond the ease and capability of the Revit tools, streamlining business processes has had a major impact. ‘It’s allowed us to deliver faster outcomes with less effort,’ says Lindqvist, ‘and that’s just the start. We have more enhancements in the pipeline that will bring additional benefits.
‘The initial focus was on solving our most immediate challenges. Now that the new platform is up and running, the next phase is fine-tuning—automating more tasks that are still done manually, further boosting efficiency and accuracy.
‘In the future, we’re looking at integrating actual site data for even greater precision. We’re also exploring how we can leverage Revit capabilities to enhance collaboration with third-party architects and designers.
‘We’re still in the early stages of using the new platform, but we’re excited about what’s ahead. It allows us to drive continuous efficiency gains, take on larger projects and expand our service offerings.’
Lindqvist credits Cadpro with playing a crucial role in this transformation. ‘When we began the process, we weren’t entirely sure what was possible. Cadpro helped us identify our challenges and what we needed to overcome them. They worked with us as a true business partner, guiding us through a significant transformation in our entire design process—one that has had a lasting impact across our business.
‘They’ve supported us at every stage, making the process easy with a single point of contact throughout. It’s great to be able to pick up the phone and speak directly with the person working on our templates. Their approach has given us complete confidence in the value they bring, because they understand our process inside out.’

Conclusion
The combination of Revit, Cadpro’s consulting expertise and custom-designed templates has driven a step change for Greenline. From struggling with the constraints of their previous CAD software, they now have a world-class solution that enables faster, more efficient project delivery. With a solid platform in place on ongoing enhancements in progress, Greenline is well-positioned to stay ahead of the competition—putting its rivals in the shade.
